Assembly Line Equipment - About Roller Conveyor

01st September 2022

As the most common assembly line equipment used in automated production lines, roller conveyors have the advantages of large conveying capacity, fast speed, simple structure, high reliability, and convenient maintenance. This article will systematically describe the roller conveyors in detail. Sort out the introduction to facilitate your future design work.

1. How to judge whether the product is suitable for roller conveying?

It is necessary to consider both the product's own conditions and the external environmental conditions.

(1) Conditions of the product itself:

The bottom surface of the goods suitable for roller conveying should be flat and hard, such as: rigid cardboard boxes, flat-bottomed plastic boxes, metal (steel) material boxes, pallets, etc.

When the contact bottom surface of the goods is soft or irregular (such as: soft bags, handbags, irregular bottom surface parts, etc.), it is not suitable for roller conveying.

(2) External environmental conditions:

Different rollers have their applicable temperatures, and it is important to choose the correct material. Plastic parts are brittle at low temperature and are not suitable for long-term use; polyurethane is easy to absorb external colors, so it cannot be used to transport packaging and goods with printed colors.

2. Classification of structural forms:

Normal and Accumulation Rollers

the difference:

The connection between the drive gear and the roller body is different.

Ordinary roller:

It adopts an integrated fixed structure, that is, the gear rotates and the roller rotates with it.

Accumulation roller:

It adopts a separate movable structure. When there is no goods accumulated, the gear and the roller rotate together. When there is goods accumulated, the gear idles and the roller body does not rotate.
