What are the three types of belt conveyor?

21st April 2023

The three types of belt conveyor are:

  1. Flat belt conveyor: As the name suggests, this type of conveyor uses a flat belt to transport materials. Flat belt conveyors are commonly used in manufacturing and assembly lines to move products along a horizontal or slightly inclined path.

  2. Incline belt conveyor: This type of conveyor uses a belt with cleats or flights on it to transport materials up or down a steep incline. Incline belt conveyors are commonly used in applications where materials need to be lifted or lowered to different levels, such as in mining operations or grain handling facilities.

  3. Decline belt conveyor: This type of conveyor is similar to an incline belt conveyor, but it is used to transport materials down a steep decline instead of up an incline. Decline belt conveyors are commonly used in applications such as baggage handling at airports, where bags need to be transported from a higher level to a lower level.

Other types of belt conveyors include troughed belt conveyors, which use a series of rollers to support the belt and carry materials along a troughed path, and pipe conveyor systems, which use a completely enclosed tube to transport materials.
