Classification and precautions of roller conveyors

27th April 2023

Roller conveyors are a type of material handling equipment that use rollers to transport goods or materials from one place to another. They can be used in various industries, including manufacturing, distribution, and warehousing. Here are some classifications and precautions of roller conveyors:

Classification:

Gravity Roller Conveyors - These are powered by gravity, with the force of gravity propelling the goods or materials along the rollers.

Powered Roller Conveyors - These use an electric motor or other power source to drive the rollers and move the goods or materials along the conveyor.

Accumulating Roller Conveyors - These allow goods or materials to accumulate on the conveyor without stopping the flow.

Belt-Driven Roller Conveyors - These use belts to drive the rollers, providing a smoother and more even movement of goods or materials.

Precautions:

Regular maintenance: Roller conveyors should be regularly maintained to ensure that they are operating properly and to prevent any potential issues that could cause damage to the equipment or injuries to workers.

Adequate guarding: Adequate guarding should be provided to protect workers from the moving parts of the conveyor.

Proper training: Workers should receive proper training on the safe use of roller conveyors to prevent accidents and injuries.

Proper loading: Goods or materials should be properly loaded onto the conveyor to prevent damage and ensure safe transport.

Weight capacity: The weight capacity of the conveyor should be carefully considered to prevent overloading, which can cause damage to the equipment or create safety hazards.
